Ronnie Norman is featured as an example: Ronnie has been working with Lynn Anderson to transition First Colony Church of Christ into a Shepherding style.  Most of the original elders are under one classification and the newbies are classsified as Shepherding Elders.  Ronnie has pushed the church into division over ADDING instrumental music which David Lipscomb ASSUREDLY must be promoting based on the experts.  I have reviewed their sowing of discord.
ACU Lectureship Summitt 2008 Review Douglas is wrong about the 1906 date but prophesied 2009 as another PIVOTAL EVENT: maybe ACU will detach? 1909 was the outing of the Disciples Denominational Structure. The lectureship will discuss the righteousness of God from Romans and promote unity in diversity as merging different groupps in one worship. I will discuss the false teachings about their FAITH ONLY views as I look forward.
The K.C. Moser and the "scholars" distortion of all of the book of Romans.
Revised 7.04.09
K.C.Moser and The gift of the Holy Spirit: many "scholars" now think that they are prophets or apostles with the Holy Spirit telling them to lie about as of the Bible.
K.C.Moser: Can the Gospel Be Obeyed? Moser says that to BELIEVE in Jesus is to OBEY THE GOSPEL.
The "Holy Spirit" person sends visions and tells false preachers that God Commands Instrumental Praise and we must not DISOBEY.  When you make such a claim it is certain that God makes you delusional and sends as "lying wonders" which means a theatrical performance to silence the Word of God.

Summer Celebration at David Lipscomb University

From Post Modernism to New Age Ocultism influence? The Staff of most "christian" universities have clearly adopted the views of postmodernism -- which began as a college prank. They say that all of the Bible has been sifted away by philosophy, evolution of the eyeballs and the Heisenberg Uncertainty principle. That is surely a MARK of people who think that they can move at the speed of light where things become UNCERTAIN.

NEW LINK: Perspicuity of Scripture:The Emergent Approach, John MacArthur

Freeing itself from the Catholic Clergy, Luther wrote and defended Sola Scriptura as the only source of faith and practice as against the "doctors of the Law who take away the key to Knowledge":

"But, if many things still remain abstruse to many, this does not arise from obscurity in the Scriptures, but from [our] own blindness or want [i.e., lack] of understanding, who do not go the way to see the all-perfect clearness of truth…. Let, therefore, wretched men cease to impute, with blasphemous perverseness, the darkness and obscurity of their own heart to the all-clear scriptures of God…. If you speak of the internal clearness, no man sees one iota in the Scriptures but he that hath the Spirit of God…. If you speak of the external clearness, nothing whatever is left obscure or ambiguous; but all things that are in the Scriptures, are by the Word brought forth into the clearest light, and proclaimedto the whole world.

In 2 Corinthians 3 of the Jews who had been made blind at Mount Sinai Paul said that they would not be able to read BLACK text on BROWN paper until they converted to Christ which is done only at baptism.

"Though such an understanding, as Luther openly admits, did not demand complete agreement among Protestants on every secondary doctrine, it did establish an important principle: That the Word of God was revealed in an understandable way, that its central message is clear, and that (because it is clear) all men are fully accountable to its message.

In contrast to this, the teachings of Brian McLaren (and others of his Emergent persuasion) directly assault the doctrine of biblical clarity. Instead of promoting a settled confidence in the fact that the Bible can be understood, McLaren does just the opposite. And he does so in at least five important ways.

Lipscomb University Preaching 2008 From Denominational Imagination!
This conference proposes that WE allow the worlds imagined
        in the essential biblical narratives
to dramatically shape our preaching and lives.
We believe that preaching reconstitutes biblical paradigms when it engages Scripture’s vision
  1. by representing what is absent
  2. and making present what is inaccessible
  3. to the end that followers of God will live into a God-shaped reality.
With some background, the point of this paper is to speak of the teaching of "spiritual formation" which this year at LU points to mysticism or finding the truths of God from within. Because the Word says that the "imaginations of the heart are only evil continually" God thought that He should inform us and put it in clay vessels and literal chards so that we can MARK false teachers.

See how this connects to ancient Dionysus Worship in Navigating the Winds of Change.  When some of Israel rose up to PLAY in musical idolatry at Mount Sinai, Stephen says that God abandoned them to worship the starry host. This was the worship of Dionysus or the new wineskin of Egypt, Greece, Canaan and Babylon.  This paper looks at proof that the urge for mysticism---broughrt about by "musical worship" exactly repeats the rising up in musical idolatry. Paul warned about this in 1 Corinthians 10 and Romans 10.

Mysticism: In which knowledge of the true self and the true secret doctrines is attained by a mystical experience of the divine. The scriptures refer to this in Colossians:

"Let no one cheat you of your reward, taking delight in false humility and worship of angels, intruding into those things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind…These things indeed have an appearance of wisdom in self-imposed religion, false humility, and neglect of the body, but are of no value against the indulgence of the flesh". [Col 2:18-23]

EXAMPLES OF MYSTICAL RITES AT TORONTO

"Let no one cheat you of your reward, taking delight in false humility and worship of angels, intruding into those things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind…These things indeed have an appearance of wisdom in self-imposed religion, false humility, and neglect of the body, but are of no value against the indulgence of the flesh". [Col 2:18-23]
  • Catholic mysticism, with trances states, levitation and visions of angels.
  • New Age mysticism, meditation, trances, sleep and sensory deprivation, etc etc
  • Yoga, chanting, dancing, - tribal rites
  • Rock music, other forms of trance-inducing music, disco-dancing, head-banging, shaking,
  • Drugs, especially hallucinogenic drugs such as LSD
  • Apparitions, visions, encounters with aliens from UFO’s
  • Prolonged fasting and prayer, with meditation
  • And now by the Toronto Blessing. - TB uses many of these techniques! In churches where the Toronto blessing and its offshoots are practised, people are led to the very same type of hypnotic trance states, catalepsy, and other physiological conditions that would be familiar to those studying tribal rituals. They are (whether they know it or not) copying the gnostics in seeking spiritual transformation by mystical rituals. And the result is the same as it was for the Gnostics! They do achieve communication in the spirit realm with various beings ranging from demons, angels, to (supposedly) Jesus himself: vivid visions are seen and words are heard, physical sensations are experienced that open up a new vision of the spiritual realm, and give a sense of unity with the divine.
  • Mysticism Defined - John MacArthur

"Mysticism includes the idea that direct knowledge of God or ultimate reality is achieved through personal, subjective intuition or experience apart from, or even contrary to, historical fact or objective divine revelation."

"Johnson, a professor at West Texas State University, elaborates: When we speak of a mystical experience we refer to an event that is completely within the person. It is totally subjective . . . Although the mystic may experience it as having been triggered by occurrences or objects outside himself (like a sunset, a piece of music, a religious ceremony, or even a sex act), the mystical experience is a totally inner event. It contains no essential aspects that exist externally to him in the physical world . . . A mystical experience is primarily an emotive event, rather than a cognitive one . . Its predominant qualities have more to do with emotional intensity, or 'feeling tone' than with facts evaluated and understood rationally. Although this is true, it alone is a woefully inadequate way of describing the mystical experience. The force of the experience is often so overwhelming that the person having it finds his entire life changed by it. Mere emotions cannot effect such transformations.

"Furthermore, it is from this emotional quality that another characteristic results, namely, its 'self-authenticating' nature. The mystic rarely questions the goodness and value of his experience. Consequently, if he describes it as giving him information, he rarely questions the truth of his newly gained "knowledge". It is this claim that mystical experiences are "ways of knowing" truth that is vital to understanding many religious movements we see today. [Our Sufficiency in Christ, John MacArthur, Jr., Word Publishing, 1991]

It was music in all pagan mysticism which was used to bring on this "out of your mind" mystical feeling.

This naturally leads to trying to use the performing arts as away to fill the void. Because Lynn Anderson has been held up as a prime example you may want to see how .....
Lynn Anderson of Hope Network and how to Transition into Shepherding.
    How he promotes the
    Promise Keepers Shepherding Movement works.

Because the SHEPHERDING of Lynn Anderson and the forcing of instruments at Oak Hills is based on promise keepers, Travers and Jewel van der Merwe, "Strange Fire: The Rise of Gnosticism in the Church" provides us a detailed explanation of the Gnostic heresy and how it has adapted to the modern church in various new perversions of doctrine.

"When a high value is placed on personal experiences or revelations, Scriptures are then unscrupulously twisted and misquoted. We find those who believe the feelings of a congregation must be hyped-up in order to `feel' the Presence of the Lord or else the church is thought to be `dead.' Instead of music being used to worship and glorify God, it is used as a means of `connecting' or `feeling' the Presence of God. (p. 89)

"Could Promise Keepers be adopting some of these `experiential' Gnostic beliefs and practices? Chris Corbett noted, in the "Heritage" article, that "given PK's emphasis on emotional highs and revelations, and their apparent disdain for precise theology, critics wonder where the next `vision' could take the movement - and how it could influence the lives of the Christian men being tethered to it through PK's growing arms." Unfortunately, Corbett found that "PK officials would not comment on the Vineyard...

"The congregational singing was stunning, with all ages joining in a seamless collection of standards and contemporary songs; upbeat and meditative songs with an emphasis on the joy of the Lord.  Randy Harris presented a message encouraging God's people to "party."  (One of his points was how Jesus was the type of person who was invited to parties and people wanted to be around.)

Stunning like all musical terms speaks of enchantment or sorcery.  Jesus identifies the Scribes and Pharisees by calling them hypocrites. He STUNNED them so that they could never again read the Word of God.

If he does not desert you soon, I hope that I will celebrate an even greater sweetness, [110][110] sped by a swift chariot, finding a helpful path of song when I come to the sunny hill of Cronus. For me the Muse tends her mightiest shaft of courage. Some men are great in one thing, others in another; but the peak of the farthest limit is for kings. Do not look beyond that! [115] May it be yours to walk on high throughout your life, and mine to associate with victors [Nikes] as long as I live, distinguished for my skill among Greeks everywhere.

Of course, this is a blasphemous and slanderous lie which fits with the EMERGING church PATTERNED after Navigating the Winds of changed which is patterned after witchcraft or sorcery as John called the rhetoricians, singers and musicians as "lusted after fruits" and sorcerers:

In declaring Jesus a wine drinker and wine manufacturer,

Fred Peatross sets the PATTERNISM: The New Testament emphasizes diversity. It is not wrong to remain single, but it is wrong to prohibit marriage (1 Timothy 4:3). It is not wrong to abstain, but it is wrong to forbid wine (Romans 14:21).

John the Baptist was an abstemious loner who preferred the desert to parties and luxuries.
His sermons emphasized doom and judgment.

    Jesus was the opposite.

His sermons emphasized grace and mercy (Matthew 11:18-19). He was a party-goer, a gregarious friend of sinners. Yet both Jesus and John pleased God.

Rubel Shelly: Wine was a common beverage in his world. He drank it. He served it. He produced well over 100 gallons of it for this event.
Lenski: "Those who charge Jesus with manufacturing intoxicants are "eager to mar, if by any means they could, the image of a perfect Holiness, which offends and rebukes them." (Quoting Trench)

    Fred Peatross says
A Pixel in a Greater Picture: The Emerging Church of Christ
    Fred Peatross: Spectacle Creations aren't just presentations by performers but events that provide an occasion for the enactment of an experience by participants and large crowds that gather. In this spectacle there is the development of anticipation or expectation about what is coming;

Music plays a key part of the spectacle. Sound, as a sensual component, enters us in a way in which the visual alone cannot.
            Previous generations found
    meaning in words;
            today's generations
    find meaning in experiences.

In concerts there is a convergence--the total experience takes place in the response of an audience to the multidimensional character of electronic events. There are music, words, the charisma of the artists, the percussive use of light, images and beat, the behaviors of the crowd, the kinesthetic involvement of the audience in moving, dancing and typically staying on their feet the entire time. The power of the event for the participative audience occurs

in the convergence of the sensory experience.
They are drawn into a vortex of personal and social yearnings and satisfactions.

Hitler could not have said it better!
All of the Biblical writers used POINTERS to further expand the false religon which the Epistles were written to repudiate.  All of the people in the Greek world would readily understand that Jesus called the Scribes and Pharisees (professionals without ethics) as hypocrites by pointing to rhetoricians, singers and talented musicians.  The marginally literate world knew that rhetoricians and song writers fed on MYTHS and could not make a living telling the truth.  One of the best dissertations on the role of rhetoricians and the MOTHER of musicians is:

Plato's dialog between Phaedrus and Socrates.

This proves the madness of all forms of musical performance and identrifies the LOCUSTS in Revelation as the sudden rise of men who had been seduced by the Muses (mother of harlots) in Revelation 17 who used "lusted after fruits" as rhetoricians, singers and instrument players in Revelation 18: John called the SORCERERS who deceived the whole world and murdered the prophets. Therefore, those who have been seduced by the Mother Goddess (professoress, elderess) lust to use the Old Testament which the Bible student knows was added BECAUSE of musical idolatry at Mount Sinai.

You will be entertained with 12 "musical worship teams" (a blasphemous term?) and 2 major Acappella leaders to go along with some of the "thought leaders" and any biblical comments will undoubtedly be massaged to make it "turkey soup for the sick." The prophecy, in fact, is that the beginning-time Babylon harlot church will be repeated where the mother of harlots (Rev 17) uses "lusted after FRUITS" [same people in Amos] as slick speakers, singers and instrument players John called sorcerers WHO HAD deceived the whole world. (John 18)  It is interesting that when people abandon THE FAITH they always "crack away to the archaic" (Joseph Campbell) and the new style worship is from old style Babylon.

The twice-daily PRACTICE of connecting "praise singing" to the worship of a Spirit God is defined by all known evidence as a form of sorcery or witchcraft.  The grouping and affirmation of the massed multitudes will alter your brain even if you scoff.

Consistent with the Bible and good mental health, believers are taught to seek God (Paul's only worship concept) by giving heed to His Word.  The very style of musical performance always points to "enchantment" and modern medicine knows that it works by inducing a drug high: endorphins which induce the impulse of FIGHT, FLIGHT and SEXUAL feelings. That is why all churches having "installed" a college-trained "worship minister" cause many of the owners to flee.

    Time Magazine

Scientific American Music and the Brain
And when a symphony's denouement gives delicious chills, the same kinds of pleasure centers of the brain light up as they do when eating chocolate, having sex or taking cocaine.

Therein lies an intriguing biological mystery: Why is music--universally beloved and uniquely powerful in its ability to wring emotions--so pervasive and important to us? Could its emergence have enhanced human survival somehow, such as by aiding courtship, as Geoffrey F. Miller of the University of New Mexico has proposed? Or did it originally help us by promoting social cohesion in groups that had grown too large for grooming, as suggested by Robin M. Dunbar of the University of Liverpool? On the other hand, to use the words of Harvard University's Steven Pinker, is music just "auditory cheesecake"--a happy accident of evolution that happens to tickle the brain's fancy?

It is clear that different parts of the brain process music and speech: that is why the direct command is to SPEAK even when we "sing that which is written" in the style of the time.  SPEAK is defined--for any student--as the opposite to poetry and music.  Myth Mongers were allowed to write songs and poems because they never wrote the truth. That is why "singers" are USED to silence the Words of Christ. For that reason John called rhetoric, singing and instrument players SORCERERS consistent witl all Greek texts.

It has been the sectarianizing patternism for churches which engage in the Church Growth Cult and build mega churches to fall into some kind of primal madness and quite willingly lie about all of the Bible and known literature to IMPOSE first musical worship teams and then instruments knowing that they were deliberately sowing discord having "counted the losses as acceptable."
Don't be put off by the term "instrumental" because the Acappella (hides a cappella) praise team is a defacto MUSICAL instrument but using organic instruments.  If you listen you will hear the pseudo-instruments and even the "animal" sounds which in the pre-illiterate period was a sign of demonism.
“See how they sang! ‘That chant to the sound of the viol, and invent to themselves instruments of music, like David.’  Musical sounds gratified their auricular sensibilities, and they chanted to the ‘viol.’  Here is the lust of the ear... What a description this of a people that lived and wrought entirely for the senses!  They were practical materialists.  They had no spiritual vision, sensibilities, or experience.  Their imperishable souls were submerged in the deep flowing sea of mere animal pleasures... There is, indeed, a reference to intellectual effort, for it is said, ‘they invented to themselves instruments of music.’  Carnal indulgencies has ever been and is now as much, if not more than ever, the great employer of man’s inventive faculties.” (Pulpit Commentary, The Book of Amos, p. 131).
Naturally, the most crowd--attracting speakers have been instrumental in trying to "restructure" what they call the ANTI-instrumental Church of Christ into the use of instruments.  The ploy of calling congregational singing "Acappella" and using performance singers whose "style" is instrumental paves the way for adding instruments.

Not surprisingly, the curse of the Monarchy now being used to say that God commands musical worship, was LIKE THE NATIONS because that is what God abandoned Israel to.

that a real spiritual change of heart was unnecessary,
and that so far as change was needful,
    they could be
    regenerated by mere external means.

"Looking at the subject in the light of the Bacchanalian orgies (Read Ephesus and Corinth), which, as the reader has seen, commemorated the history of Nimrod, it is evident that

and showed them how they might enjoy the pleasures of sin, without any fear of the wrath of a holy God. (Voodoo, Rock, Boogie Woogie becomes Contemporary Christian Music)

See how Rubel Shelly uses Lynn Anderson for getting new SPECTACLES to get a new VISION for the Church of Christ. This was a popular thing at the time among Methodist feminists and lesbians in the schools and universities reviving the Sophia-Zoe "old style worship" of Gnosticism.  This has deep roots in the Grace-Based movements.

See how early churchy hymns evolved out of voodoo:
the modern ROCK beat makes it absolute.

Lynn Anderson continues to be a favorite son at Lipscomb: he has been responsible for Blowing the Winds of Change and has been instrumental in feeding elders radically false teachings about all of the "instrument" terms in the Bible. What you should grasp is that Jesus said that the doctors of the law take away the key to knowledge. They missed key is that there are always TWO THREADS running through the Bible: the king-priestly-elite were turned over to worship the starry hosts and the Monarchy was God carrying out the captivity and death sentence imposed at Mount Sinai. The Godly or Spiritual thread taught by the Spirit of Christ in the prophets radically repudiates the Civil-Religious THREAD including slick speakers and music as the tools used by those Nehemiah and others call robbers and parasites.  Because those elevated to guru state apparently cannot pick between the road to hell and the road to heaven, it comes as no surprise that teachers believe that all truth evaporated in THEIR postmodern age but that we should pay them to get a NEW SUPPLY.  The postmodern concept is based on these minimalist's belief that they run at the speed of light and therefore there is NO

I have collected some of the witchery threads among the now-PROMOTED change agents here under Max Lucado.

Part of the always-female-at-the-root view is that " While we want to be considerate of feelings and comfort zones, we should be much more interested in being obedient to God and considering what He desires.  “Am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God?  Or am I trying to please men?  If I were still pleasing men, I should not be a servant of Christ.” Gal.1:10.  Rather than asking what kind of worship we are comfortable with, each of us should be asking what kind of worship is pleasing to God. "

But the Jesus Christ of the olden Bible died to give us REST from the laded burdens (musical rituals) and the burden laders: Scribes and Pharisees Jesus called hypocrites by pointing to Isaiah and Ezekiel where as the Spirit of Christ he MARKED rhetoricians, singers and instrument players.

Jameson Fawcett Brown notes: Vulgate translates, "They turn thy words into a song of their mouths." heart goeth after covetousness--the grand rival to the love of God; therefore called "idolatry," and therefore associated with impure carnal love, as both alike transfer the heart's affection from the Creator to the creature

1 et veniunt ad te quasi si ingrediatur populus et sedent coram te populus meus et audiunt sermones tuos et non faciunt eos quia in canticum oris sui vertunt illos et avaritiam suam sequitur cor eorum

And they come to thee, as if people were coming in, and my people sit before thee: and hear thy words, and do them not: for they turn them into a song of their mouth, and their heart goeth after their covetousness. Ezekiel 33:31

EXPOSING COLLEGE STUDENTS TO FEMINIST THEOLOGY AND THEOLOGIANS:

Writing on Willow Creek in in discussing Feminist leadership which has always leaned toward witchery: for every ten thousand witches there is only one warlock!

"What does Willow Creek mean by "appropriate level of consensus?" In practice, it means that complementarians are encouraged to look elsewhere for a church. As Dr. B--at is what Willow Creekers affectionately call Gilbert Bilezikian--explains,
........... "Anyone who is a member adheres to the statement of beliefs and practices of the church."

"Dick Carr had attended Willow Creek since 1992. "I came to Christ there, was baptized there, married there," he says fondly. That's why Mr. Carr's dissent over the women-in-leadership position is painful for him to talk about; he still loves the church.

But last year, when Mr. Carr decided to join the church, he ran into difficulties. An appendix of the membership book "threw up red flags for me."

Mr. Carr went back to his division leader, who referred him to a female elder who is the author of a paper called "Elders' Response to the Most Frequently Asked Questions About Membership at Willow Creek." In that document, volunteer membership coaches are told,

"We ask that Participating Members of Willow Creek minimally be able to affirm and joyfully sit under the teaching of women teachers ... that they can joyfully submit to the leadership of women in various leadership positions at Willow Creek."

A letter from Mr. Bilezikian to Mr. Carr confirmed the church's position: "I commend you for wanting to serve with integrity in a church that is compatible with your view.

Obviously Willow Creek is not that place." At that point Mr. Carr gave up the idea of membership.

Willow Creek teacher Mr. Ortberg says the need for agreement is an "issue of integrity" But complementarian Wayne Grudem uses no euphemisms in his analysis of the Willow Creek position:
........... "The way an egalitarian view triumphs is by a suppression of information and discussion."

Therefore, one might expect that in 2008 you are set to have your COMFORT ZONES pushed closer to the edge--but not so close teaches Anderson that you get fired.  One would expect some Directors will attend with some pink slips.

She has become a widely sought after speaker andhas taught at Fuller and Pepperdine Universities.

Speaking of Willow Creek: being infiltrated by
a strategy for ecumenism without regard for doctrine. Renovare is the organization behind this movement out of the traditions of Quakerism and it is directed by Rich Foster and William L. Vasivig. Ecumenical evangelism advocates infiltration of liberal denominations and organizations rather than separation from liberal unbelief and error.
At the Wednesday night service at WCCC we were introduced to a "spiritual formation leader", Mindy Caliguire.
The classics the women's ministry were instructing us to "avail to" were mystical writings from around the forth to fifteenth century. The mystics taught how to unclutter the mind and remove any rational thought so the mind is totally passive. This opened them up for the "Presence of God" which is actually a form of Zen meditation. Quaker quietists believe in a similar manner that "God is within" and they believe a "Quiet Revolution" is coming and declare there will be a coming incomparable "harvest." They are predicting the greatest harvesting of souls in the history of the world. An important difference to understand is that the Holy Spirit indwells us when we accept Jesus Christ and the occult meaning behind the concept of "the god within," "the light within," or "the Christ within" has a different meaning.
However, Jesus as the Christ was the VISIBLE and AUDIBLE Word of God. He is the RATIONAL DISCOURSE of the inaudible Deity.  When we accept Christ by being baptized into Christ Acts 2:38 promises us A holy spirit. Our Spirit is our rational mind.  In 2 Corinthians 3 it is only after conversion (at baptism) that those who are blind are given the ability to read BLACK text on WHITE paper. That is why the Christian school of the Bible is restricted to SPEAK or READ as the way to transfer SPIRIT from God in Christ to us: Jesus said, "My Words are Spirit and Life" (John 6:63).

Jesus as the WORD is the LOGOS or rational discourse of God:

    1. plea, pretext, ground, would have admitted of an explanation,
    2. statement of a theory, argument, to be explained
    c. in Logic, proposition, whether as premiss or conclusion
    d. rule, principle, law, as embodying the result of logismos
    4. thesis, hypothesis, provisional ground,
5.reason, ground 6.formula (wider than definition, but freq. equivalent thereto), term expressing reason,
7.reason, law exhibited in the world-process,
    V. continuous statement, narrative (whether fact or fiction), oration lego
    4.speech, delivered in court, assembly
VI. verbal expression or utterance, lego, lexis
Lexis A.speech, opposite ôidê, 1.art of song 5. = eppsdê, spell, incantation
4.text of an author, opposite exegesis [Peter's private interpretation outlaws exegesis]
The word SPEAK for the assembly is the opposite of poetry and music because these are derived out of the imaganation.  If the "imagination of mankind is always wicked" it warns against any kind of MIND CONTROL to enhance your imaginatiion. When you loose connection with the WORD you have lost connection of the HEAD and you cannot be trusted. That is why Paul warned that the only way to be sure is that women be quiet and sedentary.  See Second Maccabees to understand that women are kept SAFE in childbearing which they are NOT if they fall under the WRATH or ORGY of arousal music.

"Spirituality" is not Christianity. The written Word of God gives Christians order and direction in living and worshiping together. God defines "truth" with His Word. It is objective, authoritative, and sufficient.

"I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God shall add to him the plagues which are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, which are written in this book." Harris said. ‘This is aimed at students, not the guests.’ ‘I’ve done a number of things related to the topic,’ Harris said. He’s spent time at a Trappist monastery, a Buddhist retreat, a Celtic retreat house and a hermit community for 40 days of silent prayer. ‘We’re in a world where everyone is looking for religious experience,’ Harris said. ‘Monks and hermits are people who seem to know about that – that’s why I’ve gone to check ‘em out.’ . . . Though he studies mysticism, Harris said his education on the subject includes learning through experience. ‘I’ve done a whole lot of reading about it, but you get to a point where you don’t want to read about it,’ Harris said. ‘I’ve really been on a search and kinda decided I would go any place in the world to try and learn from people who know about meditation or contemplative prayer or who were practicing a mystical tradition.’”
"For Fr. Bede, being universal meant to be centered and grounded. He generated this universality of heart through his daily practice of meditation and contemplative prayer, and this opened him ever more to the myths, symbols and teachings of the other great religions of the world."  Man, Monk, Mystic by Pascaline Coff, O.S.B. Barbara Hubbard (noted New Ager) writes in her books:

"Teachings from the Inner Christ, how the human race will soon experience a day of 'Planetary Pentecost.' Hubbard, claiming to be in contact with 'Christ,' writes 'the Planetary Smile is another name for the Planetary Pentecost. When enough of us share a common thought [paradigm shift] of our oneness with God, Spirit will be poured out on all flesh paying attention.' (p. 79). In her book, The Revelation, Hubbard says, 'Christ, in describing the planetary smile, said: "an uncontrollable joy will ripple through the thinking layer of the earth."' ...This massive sudden empathic alignment will cause a shift in the consciousness [paradigm shift] of Earth." (p. 234-235). Writing in Happy Birth Day Planet Earth, Hubbard repeats what she heard from 'Christ.' He said, "as the planetary smile ripples through the nervous systems of earth, ... separation is overcome, and I appear to all of you at once." (p. 10-11.) (The words "paradigm shift" added at appropriate places.) (SCP Newsletter, Volume 19:2, p. 13. Published by Spiritual Counterfeits Project, P. O. Box 4308, Berkeley, CA 94704.).

"Paul (David) Yonggi Cho teaches the same thing. In The Fourth Dimension he tells of his frustration that Buddhist monks and yoga healers could perform miracles. Then the Holy Spirit supposedly revealed to him that the fourth dimension, the spirit realm, is available to all whether Christian or not, for it contains both good and evil powers. 'So men, by exploring their spiritual sphere of the fourth dimension of visions and dreams in their imaginations, can brood over and incubate the third dimension (the material world) influencing it and changing it.' This applies to all men alike. Because God gave man dominion over the earth, says Cho, unbelievers can 'develop their inner spiritual being' and change the material world. Thus Christians also have the responsibility to 'realize their inner potential' and manipulate the fourth dimension for good." (Mainstream, Winter, 1994, p. 11. Published by Banner Ministries, Box 23, Belper, Derbys DE56 1QR, UK.) Anyone who teaches this idea of a fourth dimension is dealing with psychic activities and the depraved soul, not the Holy Spirit. While there are some temporary results to these kinds of activities, they are totally evil and will eventually turn on the person's head.

If Harris is searching it is a sure sign that he is LOST: being a quiet Christian gives one absolute assurance which does not need the music or meditation of Witchcraft. History knows that when you want to change the laws of a nation you must first introduce a new style music as a vanguard

"Music and gymnastic (must) be preserved in their original form, and no innovation made. They must do their utmost to maintain them intact. And when anyone says that mankind must regard...

The newest song which the singers have, (Osyssey)...

    they will be afraid that he may be praising, not some new songs, but a new kind of song; and this ought not to be praised, or conceived to be the meaning of the poet;

for any musical innovation is full of danger in the whole State, and ought to be prohibited.
    So Damon tells me, and I can quite believe him;

he says that when modes of music change, the fundamental laws of the State always change with them..."
"Then," I said, "our guardians must lay the foundations of their fortress in music?"

"Yes," I replied, 'in the form of amusement: and at first sight it always appears harmless'." (The Great Dialogs, Plato, Classic edition, p. 312)

It is probably true that the baby boomers (infantile drummers) have fueled much of the radical changes in most religious groups. And as a society gets more urban and disconnected it turns out that the best educated are the easiest to driven into a new mental state. You can believe it or not but the Bible seems to confirm The Book of Enoch and other ancient documents that when Satan seduces you away from the Word and into musical entertainment, you have fallen and will never get up. That is because music is as addictive as crack.

"A quiet revolution had taken place since John Lennon declared that the Beatles were more popular than God. Suddenly a whole generation raised on free love, drugs, and rock and roll was looking for something more eternal. They found it in Jesus Christ -- not the Jesus Christ who was found in their parents' churches -- but a Jesus Christ that was much like them -- the ultimate hippy. These self-proclaimed "Jesus Freaks" originated in California, centering especially in Calvary Chapel in Costa Mesa.

"Like most religious revivals, the "Jesus Movement" was accompanied by a new music that expressed the mood, culture, and tenets of the new faith.

"Jesus Music" was an attempt to use the language of the generation-- music--as vehicle to bring Christ to the generation.

As William D. Romanowski points out in his history of Jesus music, "Baptizing rock music with Christian lyrics was a way of legitimizing the music for born-again hippies and making it viable in the youth market" (Schultze 1990, 149). For the article Click Here

Rubel Shelly wants to baptize Santa and begin to think of the S.O.N. God as the S.U.N. god.

And Max Lucado's Cosmic Christmas has some interesting comparisons to Shamash or S.U.N. worship.

See how Max Lucado led his church into instrumental
music at a high cost of loss of original members, elders and the best source of CASH from people who will never trust an elder again and many will never enter another church again.

The problem with DEEP MEDITATION is that you probably inform your brain what you want it to tell you in vivid visions, audible voices or having the Holy Spirit tell you it is ok to lie about all of the "instrument" words in the Bible.

Max Lucado: God calls us to do the same. Over the last few months, I've sensed our Master urging us to expand our dreams for San Antonio. He calls us to a fresh vision: a vision of a city-impacting church.

As the details of this vision crystallized for me, I shared them with our elders.
They prayed, pondered, and tested the ideas and, ultimately saw them as God's will for Oak Hills.

The purpose of this presentation is to share several strategic decisions that will posture Oak Hills to make,

with the Lord's guidance, a citywide impact. We call you to dedicate the next forty days (August 31 to October 9) to prayer, asking God to give us all strength to obey his call. Like the Apostle Paul, we desire to say, "...I obeyed this vision from heaven..." (Acts 26:19 CEV)

Seems that the Lord was NOT in that meditated vision to get authority to pursue it by having many owners leave, elders resign and many others confessing to GOING ALONG. Of Course, Lynn Anderson was fueling the elders with absolutely false teaching about instrumental music.
Here is what God wants us to think on or meditate on but without the "prophesying" of "lord, lord saying" which is sorcery.
Phil. 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
There is nothing mystical in the "witchy" sense in Christianity: Indeed, by calling people back to the WORD CENTERED Centered the "ekklesia" intends to inclucate spiritual (mental, sane, sober) principles by rehearsing the great EPICS contained in the Bible.  On the contrary, the mythical of the pagan world involved the form of rhetoric and singing styles which both MARK and MANUFACTURE effeminance in our children.
"Contemplative Prayer is not Biblical prayer at all, rather it is a type of mystical meditation leading the mind into an altered state of consciousness. It goes beyond thought, providing an experiential union with so-called God or with nature producing body sensations, feelings, images, and reflections. It is based on "experiences" rather than sound doctrine. " ... give attendance ... to doctrine." 1 Timothy 4:13.

Faith is to be based on God's word rather than experiences. "So then faith [cometh] by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." Romans 10:17, "For we walk by faith, not by sight:" 2 Corinthians 5:7.

Nimrod was known as the god of the Chaldean Mysteries. That name, as we have seen, was Saturn. Saturn and Mystery are both Chaldean words, and they are correlative terms. As Mystery signifies the Hidden system, so Saturn signifies the Hidden god. *

    * In the Litany of the Mass, the worshipers ARE TAUGHT thus to pray: "God Hidden, and my Saviour, have mercy upon us." (M'GAVIN'S Protestant) Whence can this invocation of the "God Hidden" have come, but from the ancient worship of Saturn, the "Hidden God"? As the Papacy has canonised the Babylonian god by the name of St. Dionysius, and St. Bacchus, the "martyr," so by this very name of "Satur" is he also enrolled in the calendar; for March 29th is the festival of "St. Satur," the martyr. (CHAMBER'S Book of Days)

"According to the system which Nimrod was the grand instrument in introducing, men were led to believe

that a real spiritual change of heart was unnecessary,
and that so far as change was needful,
    they could be
    regenerated by mere external means.

"Looking at the subject in the light of the Bacchanalian orgies (Read Ephesus and Corinth), which, as the reader has seen, commemorated the history of Nimrod, it is evident that he led mankind to seek their chief good in sensual enjoyment,

and showed them how they might enjoy the pleasures of sin, without any fear of the wrath of a holy God. (Voodoo, Rock, Boogie Woogie becomes Contemporary Christian Music)

"In his various expeditions he was always accompanied by troops of women; and by music and song, and games (ritual drama) and revelries, and everything that could please the natural hearts,

he commended himself to the good graces of mankind." (Hislop, Alexander, The Two Babylons, p. 55, Loizeaux Brothers

Missional leadership will need to develop Christian imagination through the cultivation of spiritual practices. Come and explore what possibilities leadership on the missional frontier holds.”

    What they believe:

Emergent leaders see their movement as “a new reformation,” shattering “intolerable carapace” of “institutionalized Christianity,” even as Martin Luther revolted against Roman Catholicism. Oakland, however, believes the “emerging church” to be an “end-time deception,” in keeping with his dispensational convictions.

Mysticism - Roman Catholic, also other religions & New Age.

Meditation - not as in Scripture, but with chants, etc., seeking altered state of consciousness.

Contemplative spirituality, contemplative prayer (centering prayer) emptying the mind of all thoughts via meditation and repetition of a single word or syllable – preferably a one-syllable word. Any time outside thoughts return, attention is re-focused by saying that word/syllable again.

"When we go to the center of our being and pass through that center into the very center of God we get in immediate touch with this divine creating energy ... that the divine energy may have the freedom to forward the evolution of consciousness in us and through us, as a part of the whole, in the whole of the creation." —M. Basil Pennington

However, the almost universal meaning of the ancient religions was that the "gods" or "demons" only spoke to you when in a state of madness. Assuredly, if you abuse your brain with unnatural mantras you will produce something but the "spirit" will not be holy.

    Some definitions:

The Jesus Prayer - While meditating, breathe in while saying “Lord Jesus, Son of God,” and breathe out saying “have mercy on me.” Repeat over & over, keep track of repetitions by using beads, knots on a rope.

Labyrinth - Similar to a maze, but has only one path – walking to the center is like a journey to the presence of God. May have “stations” along the way for prayer, etc.

Multi-Sensory worship - All five senses, thus icons, incense, darkness, emphasis on tasting the bread and wine, music.

Cosmic Christ - As opposed to the historic Christ. Jesus of Nazareth was not “THE Christ,” but had a “christ-consciousness” in him, as did Moses, Ghandi, Martin Luther King, Jr., Buddha.

Eucharistic Christ - As advocates of the “emerging church” are heavily involved in Catholic mysticism, they also gravitate toward the Catholic doctrine of transubstantiation and the worship of the “host,” consecrated wafer which the Catholic priest holds up to be worshipped just as one would worship Jesus.

Not Christians but Christ-followers - Having Christ as Lord & Savior is not a prerequisite to being “like Jesus” thus a Christ-follower; may remain Buddhist, Muslim, Hindu.

Minimizing the atonement - Some emergents say that the God who would require a blood sacrifice to atone for sin does not exist. They say Jesus died as an example of sacrificial service, but mock the idea of blood atonement for sin as being a “slaughterhouse religion.”

The fact is that the sacrificial system with loud "music" was always a violent act against God or his surogate. Gos abandoned Israel to it when they elders "fired" and declared that they wanted to worship like the nations. The loud "music" was called exorcism and music from "mystery" always intended to SHUT THE MOUTH OF THE VICTIM.

The sacrifice of Christ as well as baptism has the meaning of "cooling off the passions."

Experience over doctrine (See Harris' comments)

God in everyone, everyone is/can be God - Or perhaps we already are God but just need to realize it – the idea is also set forth that all humans are united but just need to realize it.

Vintage Christianity - Going back to the “church fathers” (but not back to the New Testament) and adopting the “spirituality” that the “fathers” set forth. Some emergents are rejecting the idea that the church went into apostasy eventually leading to the Reformation; instead they are affirming and embracing the entirety of church history, or so they claim. One wonders if they include the various varieties of Gnostics within that.

Contextual theology - “… a way of doing theology in which one takes into account: the spirit and message of the gospel; the tradition of the Christian people; the culture in which one is theologizing; and social change in that culture, whether brought about by western technological progress or the grass-roots struggle for equality, justice and liberation” (quoting Stephan B. Bevans, Models of Contextual Theology, pp. 42-43).

One Internet site says that “Taize worship includes candlelight, prayers, readings, silence, and soft music with repetitive words led by a keyboard and flute, or violin, and other instruments. The service is very meditative and offers a wonderful opportunity to be silent and center on the Lord. Come as you are – and listen.”

Missional Ministry is a fabricated word like the Post Modern joke.: it demands the restoration of a 5-fold ministry including unquestioned apostles and prophets.  Click to read some the code words which have mystical connotations.  Rhonda Lowry is on the board of directiors of Rochester University where Rubel Shelly is temporary president.  This has been a hot bed of false teachers and promoters of instrumental music. Apparently the false teachings are not very popular with students from the Church of Christ who know better.

This, of course, restores the Five-fold Ministry of Apostles and Prophets.  See how the KEY WORDS point directly to ancient paganism. Rubel Shelly helps define the Missional Ministry (they just made the word up.)

“Focused on reaching the students during Lectureship, the student track offers more student-friendly topics, such as mysticism, at later times in the evening. Monday night at 8:45 PM in the Den CafA of Barret Hall, the Spiritual Spectrum topic is Mysticism in a Modern World, hosted by Randy Harris, instructor of Bible, missions and ministry. Harris said the topic was picked because it appeals to students. ‘The director of the lectures wanted to have things that the whole campus would be involved in, especially students,’ Harris said. ‘Monks and hermits are people who seem to know about that – that’s why I’ve gone to check ‘em out.’ . . . Look to the Hills Leadership Conference (Oct. 4-5, 2007)

Guest Keynote Speaker: Brian D. McLaren

“We will be challenged by the ZOE Growing Deeper Team and Brian McLaren to grow deeper in our spiritual life and to live a transformed life.”

The Holy Spirit is the Mind of Christ. Our mind is our Spirit and all of the seven spirits which rested on Jesus were forms of Divine knowledge (Isaiah 11).  It is our own spirit which is cleansed of the world so that the Words of Christ which He says are Spirit and Life (John 56:63) will dwell there.  Being filled with the Spirit for the "deacons" means to "hold the mysteries of THE FAITH in a clear conscience.  Here is how we grow:

Rom. 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God,
that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice,
holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
3050.  logikos, log-ik-os´; from 3056; rational (“logical”):  reasonable, of the word.
Rom. 12:2 And be not conformed to this world
but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind
            t
hat ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

This is not some kind of exprienced from abusing the mind bur so that we can understand the will of God. It matters not whether all of our pleasure centers make us feel OTHERWORLDY. To be renewed is not to seek something outside of the normal brain function but:

    342.  anakainosis, an-ak-ah´-ee-no-sis; from 341; renovation: — renewing.

Rom. 12:3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you,
            not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think;
but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

Meditation and music both produce a state of mental intoxication: you cannot be SOBER and RATIONAL and MYSTICAL at the same time.

Nothing could be more "works intensive" than chanting a mantra or trying to be silent to bring on an altered state of consciousness.  Their form of "praise singing" borders on witchcraft as it induces a mental state of delusion by creating endorphins in the brain.

Titus 3:3 For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived,
serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy,
            hateful, and hating one another.
Titus 3:4 But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,
Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done,
but according to his mercy he saved us,
            by the washing of regeneration,
and renewing of the Holy Ghost; [our spirit]
2Cor. 4:16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish,
yet the inward man is renewed day by day.
    Eph. 4:23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
Col. 3:10 And have put on the new man,
which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:
    Col. 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom;
teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,
singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

We WON'T hear any of those at Lipsomb say!

Col. 3:17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed,
do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

Brian McLaren is one of the main “movers and shakers” in the “emerging church” movement. This is freely acknowledged in the biographical information posted on the ZOE Group/New Wineskins web site.

See John MacArthur on the Emergent Approach.

Of Course, ZOE is another word for LUCIFER.  The claim is really that they worship the Hills or Mountain Gods whereas in the Bible it is a question: shall we look to the hills for our salvation? No, absolutely not.
